ABOUT
BAZ SNIDER
Baz Snider began his acting career on stage in his
native Colorado at the age of 14.
As a teenager, he studied at the Cohasset Music Circus in Massachusetts,
and at Tulane University, where he was a resident actor at the Tulane
Repertory Theater. He also received numerous awards for his acting in
regional theaters in Boston, St. Louis, Kansas City and New Orleans.
His
acting career was interrupted by the Viet Nam War, when he served
as a combat helicopter pilot in the U.S. Navy. While in the Navy, Baz
flew in America, Mexico, Japan, the Philippines, Guam, and various Pacific
islands and in Viet Nam. During three years in Viet Nam, he flew over
200 combat missions, and won many citations, including the Distinguished
Flying Cross and the Presidential Citation awarded by the then President
of South Viet Nam.
Following his return from the war, Baz resumed his acting
career - this time in California. There he appeared in numerous
feature films, television series, stage productions and commercials.
After meeting his wife Aileen at a party in the La Jolla home of a friend,
they married and moved to Australia. Down Under, Baz worked as a bush
pilot, flying helicopters and fixed-wing aircraft on long term explorations
throughout the continent for the British Museum, among many other clients.
When his first daughter was born, Baz gave up flying and worked as a
real estate developer and executive in addition to managing a miniature
golf course and a restaurant. During that time he made several commercials,
including a highly successful national for Hall's Soft Drinks, in which
he may have been the first man ever to appear nude in
a national spot (Or was he? The entire Commonwealth still wants
to know).
Returning to the U.S., Baz resumed his college education, studying Psychology.
While pursuing his Ph.D. in Social Psychology and his Law degree simultaneously,
Baz also flew the tourist helicopter over Niagara Falls. During this
time his second daughter was born, adding to his happiness. He also
appeared in several theatrical productions in Buffalo, New York and
the surrounding area.
Baz came to his senses in 1994, returning to the stage
and screen, this time based out of New York. He has performed
in New York, Upstate New York, Boston, New Jersey, rural Massachusetts
and in India in plays, films and television. As is usually the case,
his first love has proven to be his most lasting.
In addition to a very busy acting career - dozens of plays, films and
commercials in the last two years -- Baz is an active
athlete and adventurer, bicycling in several fund raising events
in the Northeast, including two Boston - New York AIDS Rides.
Baz and Aileen Snider, married thirty years, reside in Rockland County,
New York with their daughter Martha. Their daughter Maren and her husband
live nearby.
